Health and Safety

Company Level

The Managing Director, Mr. Paul Dumbell. is responsible for all issues that relate to health and safety matters. The management team are responsible for ensuring that Metro Developements Ltd employees understand their responsibility towards health and safety. The management team will keep the board advised of all accidents and dangerous occurrences. Generally, to ensure that this is monitored the management team will ensure that adequate safety training is carried out throughout the group.

Management Level

Each project will have a contracts manager who will be responsible for ensuring that this is observed and implemented.

The contracts manager will have responsibility to ensure that all pre-commencement planning and safe working procedures are carried out. The contracts manager will allocate safety procedures to site management, sub-contractors and others working on site. The contracts manager will ensure compliance with the requirements of the CDM Regulations 1994, producing all relevant Risk Assessments and Method Statements. The contracts manager will have responsibility for ensuring that all sub-contractors are competent and that they produce all relevant CDM documents. This is achieved through our sub-contractor pre-qualification process.

Personnel Responsibilities

Metro Developements Ltd employees are required to co-operate fully with all practices associated with health and safety. The employees are responsible for ensuring that their actions do not cause a danger to either themselves or any other individual. In the event that the individual comes into contact with any situation that may cause injury or ill health it is their immediate responsibility that this is brought to the attention of the dedicated health and safety co-ordinator.

Training Policy

Training is recognised as an integral part of the management of safety. The company will produce an annual health and safety training programme based upon an audit of the safety performance of its existing staff, any new legislation, change of work type and an examination of the company’s safety records.

The management team will have 2.5 days of training per year. The supervisory and technical staff have 4.5 days per year. The site operatives will have job specific training, safe operating procedures and toolbox talks with frequency and duration as required.
